ICF Away

Not too many pictures of the ICF installation because it went so very quickly! It was a mad panic trying to get this done before a very busy weekend with my favorite concrete contractor, so it got pounded together. The total station wasn't accurate enough to locate the walls, so we resorted to batter boards for the final set up. Walls went up in not much more than a day and bracing took a few days.

The pour didn't go so well. Several issues contributed to some top course lifting on the ICF blocks:
- the pumping operator didn't slow down when we asked him to
- there wasn't a gooseneck on the snorkel to reduce the velocity of the concrete falling into the forms
- there wasn't a reduced head on the snorkel to help reduce velocity
- the bracing appeared to be pushing the blocks up and away once the blocks were full with concrete

I managed to get ahead of the pumping action and screw survey stakes into the blocks to hold them together and that did just fine. There is only one area that we need to do a bit of grinding to get things back in level.
